Farming isn't just what we do - it's who we are. When we took over Ahualoa Family Farms in 2017, we knew we had the chance to make a big difference in the lives of local farmers and the community as a whole. Farming is just the first step - macadamia nuts can't be enjoyed straight off the tree. They must go through an extensive post-harvest process to be dried, cracked, and prepared for eating. Without a local processor, many farmers simply stopped harvesting because it didn't make financial sense to haul their crop across the island. Orchards were left untended, and an important part of Hawaii's agricultural heritage was fading away. We set out to change that. By restoring Hawaii's oldest mac nut factory and transforming it into Hawaii's newest mac nut factory, we've given local farmers a place to bring their harvest - and a reason to keep growing. We've expanded operations, installed new equipment, and are constantly working to improve every step of the process. Every nut that passes through our doors represents the dedication of local farmers, and we're humbled and honored to be part of their story.

What makes Ahualoa's Hamakua coffee distinctive?
Ahualoa Family Farms grows their coffee on their own farm in Pa'auhau on the Hamakua Coast and oversees every step from hand-picking to roasting. The beans are known for very low acidity with flavor notes like butterscotch or subtle chocolate, and are available in light, medium, and dark roasts.
Can I buy Ahualoa coffee beans online and have them shipped?

What else can I find at The Nuthouse besides coffee?
The Nuthouse carries 100% Hawaiian macadamia nuts processed from the farm's own orchards and local partner farms in a restored historic macadamia factory. Visitors have also found treats like a Lilikoi float with homemade vanilla ice cream. It's a relaxed farm-store setting with a friendly, talk-story atmosphere rather than a full-service cafe.
Is there outdoor seating at Ahualoa Family Farms Store?
Yes, outdoor seating is available. The setting is casual and farm-oriented rather than a polished cafe environment.
Does Ahualoa Family Farms offer tours of the coffee farm or macadamia orchards?
