A small-scale, owner-led farm on the Hamakua Coast where you can walk the rows and see the process from cherry to roast. It's genuinely good for those who want an intimate, unpolished experience with Mike and Sookyung, and the rescue dogs that join the tour. If you're looking for a polished, commercialized tasting room or a quick drop-in cafe stop, this isn't it—this is a working farm visit that requires a drive up the coast.

The story

Our name Hog Heaven Coffee has two inspirations — one delicious, one a little wild. The first is the feeling of utter bliss you get from an exceptional cup of coffee. The aroma, the taste, the moment of utter calm it creates - that's Hog Heaven Coffee. The second is a piece of our farm's real history. When we first arrived on the Hamakua Coast, wild boars had other ideas about our coffee orchard — rooting through and taking out several of our trees. With the help of good friends, a new fence, and a lot of determination, we resolved our boar problem and got the farm back on track. In a roundabout way, those wild boars helped name Hog Heaven Coffee. Unlike Kona coffee, which grows in shallow volcanic rock on the dry western slopes of the Big Island, our 100% Hāmākua estate coffee grows at 1,400 feet elevation in rich, moisture-retaining volcanic soil found only on the lush northeast coast. Every cherry is hand-picked at peak ripeness and processed entirely on our farm. Our single origin Hāmākua coffee is never blended with other regions or origins. We roast in small batches to order, ensuring every bag arrives fresher than anything sitting on a store shelf.
