A quiet, small-scale farm in Holualoa that is genuinely good for picking up high-quality beans for gifts. The quality of the beans is the standout here, making it a perfect stop for those who want to avoid the crowds of the larger estates. If you're looking for a full-service cafe experience or a detailed farm tour, you may find the signal here a bit too quiet for you—head to a more established tasting room instead.

"Keopu Coffee" is a small organic farm located in the Keopu-Mauka area of Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our 5 acre organic Kona coffee farm is located at 2200 feet of elevation on the fertile slopes of Mt. Hualalai. Growing coffee started as a hobby for us back in 1998 when our family planted an acre of Kona coffee on the family estate in Keopu Mauka. Our Kona coffee was originally only used for gifts and our own enjoyment until 2005, when Keopu Coffee was created. We then began marketing and selling our coffee locally, primarily at Farmers' markets on the island of Oahu. Another 5 acres of Kona coffee was planted in 2007 and during the fall and winter of 2006-2007 we also built our own mill by hand for the processing and drying of the raw coffee fruit, known as Coffee Cherry.

Visiting Keopu Coffee Farm
What is Keopu Coffee Farm and can visitors stop by?
Keopu Coffee Farm is a small, family-operated estate in Holualoa on the Big Island, growing 100% Kona coffee since its origins as a family hobby in 1998. It is a quiet, small-scale operation rather than a full visitor attraction — call ahead or check keopucoffee.com before visiting, as drop-in access is not confirmed.
What makes Keopu Coffee's beans special?
Keopu Coffee grows its beans at roughly 2,200 feet elevation on the slopes of Mt. Hualalai, where rich volcanic soil and ample rainfall create ideal Kona growing conditions. The family hand-picks the coffee cherries and sun-dries them on a large deck using their own hand-built mill.
Can I buy Keopu Coffee beans without visiting the farm?
Yes, Keopu Coffee ships beans directly — visit keopucoffee.com to place an order. Their estate-grown beans are also available through select retail partners.
Does Keopu Coffee Farm offer farm tours?
Keopu Coffee is a small family farm and is not set up as a formal tour destination. For a more structured farm tour or tasting room experience, a larger established Kona estate may be a better fit — check with Keopu directly to confirm what is currently available.
Is Keopu Coffee certified organic?
Keopu Coffee previously held USDA Organic certification, though their current certification status is not confirmed. Their farming approach remains centered on organic principles and sustainable methods — check their website or contact them directly for the latest details.
Where is Keopu Coffee Farm located and how do I get there?
The farm is at 75-5343 Laaulu Rd in the Keopu Mauka area of Holualoa, in the Kona district of the Big Island. Holualoa sits upslope from Kailua-Kona on winding mountain roads, so allow extra travel time and confirm the route before heading out.
