The story

Llanes Kona Coffee Estates is nestled on the Big Island of Hawaii, along the Kona Coast, in the charming town of Keauhou Mauka, on the lush slopes of Hualalai Volcano. Founded by Sabas Llanes, the estate has become a legacy passed down through three generations of the Llanes family. In honor of their grandfather, the family continues the tradition of crafting 100% Single Estate Kona Coffee, handpicking each cherry only when it reaches the perfect red ripeness. The beans are then pulped, milled, and roasted to order in small batches, all while being carefully packaged in-house to ensure a consistently excellent, 100% Pure Kona Coffee.

Common questions

Visiting Llanes Coffee Estates

When is Llanes Coffee Estates open?

Llanes Coffee Estates is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The farm is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, so plan your visit on a weekday if you're hoping to stop by in person.

What makes Llanes Kona Coffee special?

Llanes Coffee Estates is a third-generation family farm on the slopes of Hualalai Volcano, growing 100% Single Estate Kona Coffee on their Keauhou Mauka property. Every step — from handpicking ripe cherries to pulping, sun-drying, milling, and roasting — is handled on the estate, and all coffee is roasted to order in small batches.

Does Llanes offer farm tours or tastings?

Llanes is a small-scale farm focused on direct sales rather than a formal tasting room or structured tour program. It's a lower-key visit than larger estate operations, so contacting them ahead of time is a good idea if you'd like to stop by in person.

What is Peaberry coffee and does Llanes sell it?

Peaberry beans are a naturally occurring variant where a single round bean develops inside the coffee cherry instead of the usual two flat-sided beans — they are often described as having a richer, sweeter flavor. Llanes Coffee Estates produces Peaberry as one of their featured offerings.

Can I order Llanes coffee online and have it shipped?

Yes, Llanes Coffee Estates ships directly and sells both whole bean and ground coffee. Orders are roasted to order in small batches, and you can purchase through their website at llaneskonacoffee.com.

Is Llanes Coffee Estates a good stop if I want to avoid the crowds of larger Kona estates?

Yes — Llanes is a quiet, low-profile farm in Holualoa that tends to draw visitors who are specifically seeking out their estate-grown Kona coffee rather than a high-traffic tourist destination. The trade-off is a more understated experience without the amenities of larger operations.
