The story

As peace corps volunteers in El Salvador, Kollette and Jason Stith discovered a love for coffee cultivation. We were able to follow our passion to the Big Island to grow 100% Kona Coffee… and there discovered macadamia nuts. Mahina Mele Farm was born and with it our family as well. A beautiful place to raise our children Lucia, Izzie, and Asa. Together with our friend Morgan Perry, we dedicated our lives to cultivating gourmet Macadamia nuts and Kona coffee. We found our niche with organic dehydrated nuts and organic kona coffee, processed in our signature way. Mahina Mele Market opened in 2021, not only as a place to dehydrate the Macadamia nuts and press for oil but a brick and mortar to highlight all the farm has to offer and Pure Mana Hawaii skincare. Kollette and Sue Mandini are the founders that utilize the organic macadamia nut oil as their carrier oil. The market is also a place to recognize other local organic farmers and their goods made with integrity. We are grateful for the opportunity to produce such beautiful food and skincare from the bounty of this sacred island. Quality matters, family and community matters, and so does caring for our Aina.

Common questions

Visiting Mahina Mele Market

What are Mahina Mele Market's hours?

The market is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM and is closed Saturday and Sunday. If you're visiting over a weekend, you'll need to plan this stop for a weekday.

Is the coffee 100% Kona?

Yes — their Kona Rose Coffee is 100% estate-grown Kona coffee, small-batch roasted directly on the Stith family's South Kona farm since 2005.

What else can I buy at the market besides coffee?

The market carries Izzie Macs! macadamia nuts — carefully dehydrated over three days rather than roasted, to preserve their nutritional content and fresh crunch — plus raw Hawaiian honey sourced from local blossoms and organic skincare products.

Can I order Kona Rose Coffee and have it shipped to the mainland?

Yes, Mahina Mele Farms ships directly. Check konarosecoffee.com for current product availability and ordering details.

What farming methods does Mahina Mele use?

The family uses Hawaiian Natural Farming methods and organic principles on their South Kona property, avoiding synthetic inputs. They have farmed this way since founding the operation in 2005.

Is this a sit-down café or more of a farm stand?

Mahina Mele Market operates as a farm-stand style market with no espresso bar or seating area. It's primarily a place to purchase estate-grown coffee, macadamia nuts, honey, and related farm products directly from the family.
