Single-origin Kona gets used as a marketing claim so often it's almost lost meaning. This farm is more specific about it than most: they don't purchase cherry from neighbouring farms or mix their harvest with anyone else's. One piece of land, along Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook, in the middle of the famous Kona Belt, handled start to finish by the same operation. They sell whole-bean and ship direct, which is the right approach — coffee bought close to roast date tends to be a meaningfully better experience than whatever's been sitting on a shelf. Open Monday through Wednesday afternoons if you'd rather stop by in person.
Welcome to the Royal Islander Coffee and KTL Kona Coffee Farm web pages. We’re at the start of another great harvest year growing the best coffee in the world. Our farm is located along Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook, in the middle of the famous Kona Coffee Farm Belt. The “belt” is a narrow strip of land 1 mile by 30 miles long and home to about 600 farms. Compared to the large Kona coffee companies, we are a small estate farm, or single origin operation. We do not buy cherry from other farmers, or mix our harvest with cherry from other farms. In this way we can personally insure the quality of our product in every step on its way to the roaster.

Visiting Royal Islander 100% Kona Coffee - KTL 100% Kona Coffee Farm
When is the farm open to visitors?
KTL Kona Coffee Farm is open Monday through Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM only. It is closed Thursday through Sunday, so plan ahead and verify hours at royalislandercoffee.com before making the trip.
What makes this Kona coffee different from blended Kona products?
The farm grows, processes, and roasts entirely its own coffee on-site with no outside beans, making it a true single-origin, 100% estate-grown Pure Kona Coffee. Many products labeled 'Kona blend' contain as little as 10% Kona coffee by law.
What roast and processing style do they use?
Beans are washed and dried before being small-batch roasted to a Medium (Full City Plus). The farm grows ancient Arabica and Guatemalan varieties using sustainable, organic-inspired methods.
Can I buy beans or have them shipped to the mainland?
KTL Kona Coffee Farm roasts on-site and is open for visitors Monday through Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, so in-person purchases are possible during those hours. The place data does not confirm mainland shipping; contact them directly or check royalislandercoffee.com for remote ordering options.
How long has the farm been in the family?
The farm was re-established in 2009, but the family's connection to the land traces back to the Great Mahele in 1856. It remains a family-run operation today.
Is the farming done organically?
The farm uses sustainable, organic-inspired cultivation methods drawing on traditional Hawaiian farming practices. For specific certification details, check royalislandercoffee.com or contact them directly.
