Daily Coffee News by Roast Magazine reports that coffee farms across southern Hawaii Island are assessing crop, tree and infrastructure losses after Hurricane Lala, which passed just south of the island on Aug. 15 as many farms began the 2026 harvest.
Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports that flooding and winds from Hurricane Lala caused extensive damage to Ka‘u coffee farms about a month before peak harvest. Some Kona coffee farms also had mostly wind-related damage.
