A small-scale, working coffee farm in Kealakekua where the focus is on the beans and the personal touch of the owners. It's genuinely good for those seeking an intimate, owner-led tour of the rows and a high-quality roast that doesn't need cream or sugar. If you're looking for a drop-in cafe with a full menu and seating, this isn't it—this is a farm, not a coffee shop.

The story

This page was built from public sources. Farm owners: if anything here is inaccurate, email contact@islandandpine.com and we will fix it quickly.

Founded in 1986, Lehuula Farms is located at roughly 1,400 feet elevation on 3.8 acres in the Kona coffee belt with a stunning view of the ocean. Our 4,000 coffee trees grow under the shade of many different fruit trees including avocado and macadamia nut, where wild turkeys commingle with chameleons. Many of our coffee trees are over 90 years old, and like heritage grape vines, this age allows the plant to produce deeply complex and unique flavors. Lehuula Farms is now the dream project of Yulian and Ana Moreno. After working with the original founders Bob and Mae Nelson and the next generation Brian and Amy Axelrod for over 12 years Yulian and Ana have decided to take the step forward and become the new owners of Lehuula Farms.

Family-stewarded Kona estate on the slopes of Hualalai, operating since 1986.

Farm features heritage coffee plants over 90 years old.

Yulian hand-picks the cherries and roasts in small batches; Ana roasts to order for freshness.

Common questions

Visiting Lehuula Farms

Are tours available at Lehuula Farms?

Yes, tours are available by appointment. You can arrange a visit by calling the farm or reaching out through lehuulafarms.com/contact.html.

Is Lehuula Farms open on weekends?

No — the farm is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM and is closed both Saturday and Sunday. Plan your visit for a weekday.

Can I buy beans at the farm and have them shipped to the mainland?

Yes, Lehuula Farms ships beans directly. Because they roast only after an order is received, you can expect fresh beans whenever you order.

What kind of coffee does Lehuula Farms grow?

Lehuula Farms grows 100% Kona coffee on 3.8 acres on the slopes of Hualalai volcano. The farm is notable for heritage coffee plants that are over 90 years old.

Is Lehuula Farms a cafe or a working farm?

It is a working farm, not a drop-in cafe. Visitors seeking a full coffee shop experience with a menu and seating should look elsewhere — this is best suited to those interested in a farm tour and purchasing freshly roasted beans.

What is distinctive about how Lehuula Farms roasts their coffee?

Roast master Yulian Moreno roasts every batch by hand in small quantities, and only after receiving an order. This means beans are at peak freshness rather than sitting pre-roasted on a shelf.
